Review: Dragon Quest Builder 2 (Sony PlayStation 4)

With the original Dragon Quest Builders, Square Enix had a winning formula on its hands – combining the creative gameplay of Minecraft style voxel-builders with the JRPG breadcrumbing of the no-nonsense Dragon Quest franchise. Rather than being a throwaway spinoff to cash in on a fad-genre, Dragon Quest Builders framed itself as a reimagining and love letter to the original NES Dragon Quest – reimagining the original game’s narrative to one where the hero decided not to slay the evil Dragonlord, and the power of building was stolen from the world. Now the stage is set for Dragon Quest Builders 2: the game which improves on the first Dragon Quest Builders in the same way that Dragon Quest 2 improved on the original Dragon Quest.
