Cavite village chief faces probe over Zoom sex scandal — DILG

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will investigate a village official from Dasmariñas City, Cavite who was caught on Zoom allegedly having sex with another official during a meeting, its spokesman said on Thursday.

Jesus Estil of Barangay Fatima Dos will be investigated over the  “appalling and disturbing” incident allegedly involving him and the village treasurer, DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, concurrent spokesman, said.

Estil and the unidentified treasurer were caught allegedly having sex during a Zoom meeting regarding their barangay’s plans on how to beat the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The act is against public morals and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees, Malaya said.

“If true, this is unbecoming of an elected government official. Tinitiyak po naming iimbestigahan ang insidenting ito at pananagutin ang barangay captain ng kung anong karampatang parusa ng batas sa inasal niya [We assure the public that we will investigate the incident, and make the barangay captain accountable for whatever he did],” he said.

“The DILG neither condones nor tolerates such obscene behaviour by any local government official”, Malaya said.

Malaya also urged the Dasmariñas City Government to investigate Estil  “since it also has disciplining authority over barangay officials”.

Zoom, according to its website,  is a cloud-based platform for videoconferencing, chats and webinars. Its company, Zoom Video Communications Inc.,is in San Jose, California. Its founder and current CEO is Eric Yuan who put up the firm on April 21, 2011.
