Joyful and senior yoga at Sunshine Place online

MINDFUL movement exercises provide alternative approaches to aerobic and anaerobic exercises; promote physical and mental well-being and greater equanimity; improve mood and relaxation; and reduce stress and physical ailments. Exercises are necessary for everyone to be physically, mentally and emotionally fit, especially during these trying times.
At Sunshine Place, two yoga online morning classes are being offered: senior yoga and joyful yoga.
Set to start on Aug. 13, 2020, the one-hour senior yoga class is chair-based. It will involve the gentle practice of modern yoga poses and sequences, using the chair as the foundation and support. It is well adapted for seniors looking to increase mobility and flexibility without much load or strain on the body. Mindful movement with attention to breathing helps increase vitality, boost the mood, relieve tension and reduce stress. The class is every Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
Joyful yoga is open to all ages and will start on Aug. 18, 2020. It will be an uplifting practice of gentle movements while seated on a chair to make way for practical exercises extracted from face yoga and laughter yoga to create the mind-body connection, generate feelings of happiness and help one to find joy within. The class is every first and third Tuesday of August from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. For September, it is on the first and 15th day.
Enrollees can avail the step-up program and attend at least three different physical activity classes.
