‘Love Life with Kris’ might not preem on schedule
It was indeed exciting news in showbiz when erstwhile Queen of All Media Kris Aquino announced early July she was returning to television within the month. Shortly after, however, the ever-controversial personality kept quiet on social media for many weeks as buzz grew louder that TV5 seems to have changed its mind in giving her a block-timer slot. Loud whispers persisted that politics was getting in the way of the deal.
By the end of July, Aquino resurfaced on social media anew, announcing that her talk show, “Love Life with Kris,” is finally airing on the free TV station on August 15.
Still three weeks delayed from its original premiere of July 25, however, what really happened between TV5 and Aquino, including her management team Cornerstone Entertainment Inc.?
In a virtual presser on Thursday, director and TV5 Head of Programming Perci Intalan set the record straight that amid rumors the network postponed and even canceled Aquino’s comeback show is fake news.
“As far as we are concerned, Kris Aquino is very much welcome on TV5. In fact, we are preparing na for her show, but I think there are a few things that they need to fix within their side because TV5 is not producing the show — it’s actually produced externally. Kaya hihintayin namin silang maging ready. But again as far as we are concerned, we gladly welcome her and we look forward to having her on our channel,” he clarified.
“August 15 is really the original airing. I guess ang hirap sagutin nung details [why they postponed] kasi that’s their turf kung ano yung nangyayari inside in their discussion, within their production. But one thing is for sure, excited na talaga kami,” Intalan reiterated.
“But again, maraming factors [that they will have to consider] I guess kasi tatamaan sila ng MECQ. Bawat show kasi iba-iba yung lead time eh. So nung sinabi nila na hindi pa ready before, wait muna, we respect that,” he added, hinting that the premiere date may indeed be pushed back.
It was on July 30 when Aquino shared a teaser for her upcoming show over Instagram with the caption, “Thanks to all of you, I’m starting my new beginning.”
The same day, she also shared a clip where she was welcomed by the network’s news anchor Raffy Tulfo [aka the “King of Pulic Serice”] in his very own studio at TV5’s headquarters in Mandaluyong City.
According to Intalan, Aquino will greatly help TV5’s revival on the entertainment side.
“Yes, she’s a big help for TV5. Kris Aquino is Kris Aquino. Kita mo naman with the few things that is happening sa show niya, pinaguusapan na eh. Yun yung power ng isang Kris Aquino — everything that she does is already news worthy. Wala pa yung show pinaguusapan na, what more kapag nandiyan na yung show.”
“Love Life with Kris” will be the seasoned host’s fist TV venture in four years after her last show “Kris TV” was on air at the now defunct ABS-CBN.
