Ospital ng Tondo to close for 10 days after health workers get virus

THE Ospital ng Tondo, a government-run hospital in Manila, will close its doors for 10 days after 32 of its healthcare workers were infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said the decision to shut down was upon the request of the hospital’s director.

“So medical workers could relax, their burden would be eased because the hospital’s patients are their doctors and nurses,” Domagoso said in a Teleradyo interview on Friday.

The mayor said the hospital would only accept patients in a “life and death” situation, otherwise, they would be referred to the city’s five other district hospitals.

Domagoso said those already confined, including Covid-19 patients, will continue to receive assistance from the medical staff.
