PH hits new high: 6,958 cases in a day

The country added almost 7,000 new Coronavirus cases on Monday, the highest in a single day, with the National Capital Region registering the most cases — 4,163.

The Department of Health said the total national tally is now 136,638, of which 66,186 are active cases.

Monday’s case load shattered the record set on August 4, when the country registered 6,263 cases.

There were 633 new recoveries, for a total of 68,159, or 50 percent of the cases in the country, while 24 deaths were recorded for a total of 2,293 deaths.
