QCPD named best police district in Metro Manila

THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) was adjudged as the “Best Police District’ in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the 119th Police Service Anniversary of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

BGen. Ronnie Montejo, police director, attributed the mutual cooperation of the residents and concerned law enforcement agencies in keeping peace and order in the city for the recognition.

QCPD bested the Manila, Northern, Eastern and Southern Police Districts.

It also bagged awards for eight units and individuals during the anniversary celebration at Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City with PNP Chief Archie Gamboa and MGen. Debold Sinas, National Capital Region Police Office director, acting as presenters.

Montejo said the QCPD was awarded the Best Unit for its Project Double Barrel (Police District Level); the Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) as Best Unit for Project Double Barrel (Numbered Police Station Level) and as Best Numbered Police Station for having the most number of firearms confiscated (Police District Level); Payatas-PCP of Batasan Police Station (PS-6) as Best Police Community Precinct.

The individual awards were presented to Lt. Col. Teresita Escamillan as Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration; Cpl. Mark Anthony Rigor as the Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration; and Willy Meneses Santos for Best Non-Uniformed Personnel (Supervisory Level).

“We share these awards and accolades to the people of Quezon City whom we continue to serve and protect. May these awards also continue to remind and inspire us in always doing our job to the highest level of performance,” Montejo said.

The event focused on the mandate and resiliency of the PNP at a time of pandemic with the theme: “Towards A Pandemic-Resilient PNP: Deploying Digital Technologies and Adopting Protective Protocols in The New Normal.”

The Police Service Anniversary is in commemoration of the establishment of the Philippine Constabulary as the country’s first insular police force founded on Aug. 8, 1901.
