GESM invites incoming college students

THE German European School Manila (GESM) hosted the second virtual University Fair from Dec. 2 to 3, 2021. The fair aimed to help and guide future college students in their search for the right university with its two-day extensive program that featured higher education institutions from around the globe with speaking engagements by industry leaders and representatives of some of the most reputed universities out there. The event was free and open to all.

A total of 33 universities from 12 different countries were at the GESM's Fair to make their pitch to attendees. Notable universities included the prestigious Radboud University in the Netherlands, the University of British Columbia in Canada, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany and a total of six of the top 10 hospitality schools in the world, according to QS University Rankings.

Also present at the fair was the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), a network of German higher education institutions, funded by the German government. The DAAD talked about study opportunities in Germany and their benefits. Germany was a prime destination for studies abroad. With universities — most of which imposef practically no tuition fees — that were famous for a policy of academic freedom, the country attracted close to 400,000 international students in 2019.

GESM's University Fair was a student-led event, organized in large part by the school's 11th and 12th graders, taking up the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and Career-related Program. The event was supported by the DAAD, Bridge U and the German Embassy in Manila, whose Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel was at the Fair.
