Palace to employers: Be lenient on workers

MALACAÑANG reminded employers to be lenient to workers due for vaccination and not mark them as absent on the day they will get their shot.

Acting Palace spokesman and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles made the appeal ahead of the second round of the nationwide vaccination blitz slated for December 15-17.

"Lahat ng mga employers ay may direktiba po na kung iyan po 'yung vaccination day ng inyong empleyado ay dapat payagan po natin iyan at i-excuse po natin from work. So, necessarily kasama na iyong 15, 16 and 17 (Employers have been issued a directive that if that is the vaccination day of their employee, they should be excused from work. So, that necessarily includes [December] 15, 16, 17)," Nograles said in a radio interview on Saturday.

He urged all local government units (LGUs) to set up separate systems for constituents who have pre-registered and walk-ins to avoid confusion at the vaccination sites during the ramped up vaccination drive.

"This is to not waste the time of the people. Because ang intent nga natin ay mabakunahan lahat (our intent is to get everyone vaccinated)," Nograles said.

During the first "Bayanihan Bakunahan" last November 29 to December 1, 9.9 million individuals were inoculated against Covid-19.

For the second wave of vaccinations, the government is not setting a specific target, but to have as many people jabbed as possible, Nograles said.

"Depende sa supply, although wala na tayong problema sa supply. Depende na rin siguro sa pagsi-set ng targets per LGU (It depends on the [vaccine] supply, although we don't have a problem with that. I guess it would depend on the targets set by each LGU)," he said.
