Bong Go sends aid to displaced workers

THE Office of Sen. Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go provided aid to hundreds of displaced workers in Muñoz and Talavera, Nueva Ecija, on Thursday, January 27.

In a video message, Go urged those who are already eligible to get their vaccine shots against Covid-19 to ensure that they are safeguarded from the threat of the virus, especially amid possible contagious variants.

Magtulungan ho tayo (For now, my countrymen, more people are vaccinated and they are more protected. What we are avoiding is the collapse of our health care system due to the filing up of patients in the hospitals. Let us help each other)," said Go.

The vaccine is the only key or solution for us to achieve population protection, or 50 percent of the population are vaccinated. And herd immunity once we have vaccinated at least 70 percent of the population)," he added.

If the case is low, we can again open the economy. Once the economy is open, we can go back to our work and we will not go hungry)," he also assured.

Go's staff distributed meals and masks to a total of 601 displaced workers. They also provided new shoes and a bicycle to select recipients. They likewise gave computer tablets to others to help with their children's education.

To further help them recover from the economic effects of the pandemic, a team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed livelihood assistance under its Sustainable Livelihood Program.

The distribution activities were held at Talavera Municipal Gym and Philippine National Police Gym in Muñoz where the team implemented necessary health protocols to safeguard the beneficiaries from Covid-19.
