RSU-LSHS team secures finalist spot in national Chemistry competition
ODIONGAN, ROMBLON: The Romblon State University Laboratory Science High School (RSU-LSHS) secured a spot as one of the nine finalists for the Start-Up, Chem-Up: Idea Pitch Competition of Kapnayan 2022, according to RSU President Marian Catajay-Mani.
The RSU-LSHS team is dubbed as RSU Protons 22 and composed of Marvin Santiago as team leader; and Katrina Mazo, and Denise Issabelle Servañez as team members; and Andrew Famero as coach.
The RSU team will present a detailed pitch on how to address different societal problems using the subject focus.
The other finalists are Muntinlupa Science High School, Cebu Institute of Technology-University, Philippine Science High School-Cordillera Administrative Region, Child's Place Developmentally Appropriate Program School, Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School, Adamson University, Tabaco National High School and First City Providential College.
The distinguished judges for the Start-Up, Chem-Up contest include Ricky Nellas, Associate Dean of the College of Science, UP Diliman; Dr. Mae Joanne Aguila, Associate Professor, College of Arts and Sciences, UP Los Baños; Ryan Romasanta, Assistant Scientist-Emission Research, School of Environment Science and Management, UP Los Baños; Franz Reimart Averion, Chief Executive Officer at ProConsul International; and Von Ryan Ebron, Assistant Professor, College of Human Ecology, UP Los Baños.
Kapnayan is a triennial week-long nationwide Chemistry fair being hosted by the UPLB Chemical Society.
The event titled "The Prescribed Dose" is pushed through via online apps. Its theme is "Immunizing Minds Through Chemical Literacy Against the Infodemic."
The event started on February 7 and will end on February12. Advisory No. 075, series of 2021 has been issued by the Department of Education in support of the activities.
