Tiangco brothers proclaimed mayor, congressman in Navotas
THE local Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed incumbent Mayor Tobias "Toby" Tiangco as Navotas' duly-elected congressman and brother, Rep. John Rey Tiangco, as mayor.
Comelec-Navotas chairman Gaffud Winston also proclaimed the complete ticket of the Tiangcos' Partido Navoteno composed of councilors and Vice Mayor-elect Tito Sanchez who obtained 84, 065 votes against closest rival, Icoy de Guzman who got 30, 948 votes.
Meanwhile, Tiangco (John Rey) got 80, 908 votes as compared with opponent RC Cruz, who obtained 44, 970 votes.
The incumbent mayor garnered 79,505 votes to toppl Gardy Cruz, a former elected official, who got 46, 991 votes.
The Tiangco brothers expressed gratitude to their supporters and the local electorate for giving their local party an overwhelming victory.
They then offered their hands of peace to their political rivals saying the election was only one day and they have to buckle down to work for the interest of the residents and the city as a whole.
"We will continue to serve with utmost dedication, sincerity and competence and we are now asking everyone to join us and work together for our beloved Navotas," the brothers said.
They were also all praises for the volunteers as well as poll personnel including teachers and the police and military men for "a job done well".
