MSC announces Fisheries scholarship program

THE Marinduque State College School of Fisheries (MSC-SOF), in cooperation with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), announces the schedule of submission of application for Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) for the Academic Year 2023-2027.

The MSC-BFAR FSP has three categories, namely: 1) FSP Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples, 2) Fisheries Industry Leader Grant, and 3) Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant.

Each category has its respective specific guidelines and requirements.

Graduating high school students enrolled in the agriculture strand shall submit their application for them to qualify in the scholarship and be able to take the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BSF) course.

The submission of application for interested students started on May 1 and will end on August 22, 2022.

Application shall be submitted either to BFAR Office at Fisheries Building Ciomplex, BPI Compound, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City or at MSC-SOF in Gasan, Marinduque.

In a related development, the MSC-SOF recently launched a Coastal Clean-up drive to protect the coastal areas and the reefs of the Marinduque province.

The activity was in conjunction with the celebration of the Month of the Ocean 2022 and participated in by the MSC officials, faculty and staff and students. Its theme is "Protect and Restore Ecosystem and Biodiversity."

The activity was also participated in by BFAR-Regional Fisheries Office personnel; BFAR Provincial Fisheries Office staff; BFAR Fisheries Protection Law Enforcement Group-MIMARIOPA; and PNP-Maritime contingent.
