BPI Foundation supports OCD's Arbor Day Celebration in Bataan

BPI Foundation, the social development arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), recently collaborated with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) for "Juan for Treesilience: A tree planting and growing activity" in Barangay Alangan, Limay, Bataan last Saturday, June 25.
The event was conducted through OCD's Capacity Building and Training Service together with the OCD Regional Office 3, the Provincial Government of Bataan, the Local Government of Limay, and the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons Philippines.
Joining the activity were Civil Defense Administrator Ricardo Jalad, OCD Region 3 Director Cesar Idio, Bataan Vice Governor Maria Cristina Garcia, Limay City Administrator Danilo Datay (representing Mayor Nelson David), BPI Foundation Executive Director Owen Cammayo and an estimated 700 participants from various sectors.
Director Idio highlighted that the activity was held in observance of Arbor Day, an annual celebration that encouraged tree planting activities to promote healthier ecosystems in the country.
He also stated that this was "part of our commitment to sustain and ensure the growth of trees planted as well as to maintain partnerships with stakeholders and other organizations."
To further foster this partnership and to assist in the successful implementation of the activity, BPI Foundation donated P50,000 to OCD.
Vice Governor Garcia thanked OCD and its partner organizations for initiating an activity that focused not just on planting trees, but also on ensuring that the trees grew for the benefit of future generations. She said this would help build Bataan's resilience from natural disasters.
