Communist terrorist killed in encounter
THE Philippine Army said on Monday that a member of a communist terrorist group was killed during an encounter with state troops in the municipality of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on Sunday afternoon, July 10.
The report said that while conducting combat clearing operations in Barangay Tibuhol, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat at 4:45 p.m., the soldiers from the 57th Infantry Battalion encountered more or less five members of a communist terrorist group.
A short firefight ensued.While scouring the encounter site, operating troops recovered the dead body of the slain terrorist.
Troops also recovered assorted war materials including one cal. 30 M1 Garand rifle, four clips with 28 rounds of cal. 30 ammunition, and one sling bag.
Since January 2022, Joint Task Force (JTF) Central has neutralized a total of 44 communist terrorist group members. Of the 44, five were killed and 39 surrendered.
Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., commander of Western Mindanao Command commended the troops of JTF Central for their resolve to end terrorism and insurgency in their area of operations. He also urged them to remain steadfast and sustain the momentum.
