Majority of Filipinos still 'a great deal worried' about catching Covid-19 – SWS
A majority of Filipinos are still worried that anyone in their immediate family might catch Covid-19 despite being hopeful that the worst of the pandemic is over in the country, the April 2022 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed.
Around 9 in 10 adult Filipinos, or 88 percent, expressed that they were "a great deal worried" or "somewhat worried" about themselves or their family member getting infected with the virus, while 12 percent were "a little worried" or "not worried" about catching Covid-19.
Worry about Covid-19 infection remained high since May 2020, despite 83 percent of Filipinos in April 2022 believing that the "worst of the pandemic is behind us".
Compared to the previous year, the hope that the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic is over was 33 percent more and was nearly twice as high as the 44 percent reported when the pollster first asked the question in May 2020.
Meanwhile, there was also 16 percent of respondents who fear that "the worst is yet to come." This was significantly lower than the 49 percent recorded in the previous year.
The SWS conducted face-to-face interviews among 1,440 adult respondents nationwide from April 19 to 27, 2022.
Results of the survey have a ±2.6 percent sampling error margin.
