Bacoor public market placed under one-week lockdown

THE Bacoor City government placed its public market under a one-week lockdown after some of its vendors and marshals tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla issued Executive Order 35 closing the Bacoor City Public Market in Barangay Zapote starting at 10 a.m. of August 11 until 1 a.m. of August 18.

According to the order, the City Health Office (CHO) conducted swab tests on about 200 vendors, marshals and tenants of the public market last August 7. Nine of them tested positive for the disease last August 9.

“There are still other confirmed cases which are being validated by the CHO as of this writing, and several cases of symptomatic suspects being monitored by respective barangay (villages),” the order added.

The city government advised those who went to the market from August 5 to 10 to monitor their health and immediately contact their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERT) should symptoms develop.

Some 800 to 1,100 vendors, stall owners and ambulant vendors were affected by the lockdown, according to the order.

As of August 10, there are 945 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the city, of which, 465 have recovered and 45 have died.
