Antonio Banderas tests positive for coronavirus

NEW YORK: Antonio Banderas announced on Instagram that he’s tested positive for Covid-19 and is celebrating his 60th birthday in quarantine.

He would spend his time in isolation reading, writing and “making plans to begin to give meaning to my 60th year to which I arrive full of enthusiasm.”

“I would like to add that I am relatively well, just a little more tired than usual and hoping to recover as soon as possible following medical instructions that I hope will allow me to overcome the infection that I and so many people in the world are suffering from,” wrote Banderas. AP

Chris Pratt, Katherine Schwarzenegger greet baby daughter

LOS ANGELES: Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger say they are “beyond thrilled” and “extremely blessed” after she gave birth to their first child together.

The 41-year-old “Avengers” actor and the 30-year-old children’s book author announced the birth of daughter Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt in a joint post on their Instagram accounts Monday.

The post included a photo of the hands of both parents and child and a pair of Bible verses.

Pratt also has a seven-year-old son with his first wife, Anna Faris.

The baby is the granddaughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. AP

Jolie seeks removal of private judge in Pitt divorce case

LOS ANGELES: Angelina Jolie asked that John Ouderkirk, the private judge overseeing her divorce from Brad Pitt, be disqualified from the case because of insufficient disclosures of his business relationships with one of Pitt’s attorneys.

In a filing in Los Angeles Superior Court, Jolie argues that Ouderkirk was too late and not forthcoming enough about other cases he was hired for involving Pitt attorney, Anne Kiley.

During the proceedings, Ouderkirk has “failed to disclose the cases that demonstrated the current, ongoing, repeat-customer relationship between the judge and Respondent’s counsel.” AP

Sara Bareilles to star in comedy about a girl group

NEW YORK: Sara Bareilles’ next role will be a washed-up musician.

The NBCUniversal streaming platform Peacock said the Grammy-winning artist and Broadway songwriter Bareilles will star in “Girls5eva,” executive produced by Tina Fey.

The comedy is about a one-hit-wonder girl group called Girls5eva from the 1990s whose members reunite to give their pop star dreams one more shot.

Bareilles will play Dawn, a former member of Girls5eva who is now managing her family’s small Italian restaurant in New York City.

She composed the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical “Waitress” and made her acting debut in 2017 in the show’s lead. AP

Fire engulfs cooking show star Rachael Ray’s home

NEW YORK: Rachael Ray’s home in Lake Luzerne, New York was hit by a massive fire.

As many as 16 local fire departments responded to the fire which started around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday and lasted until around 3 a.m. No one in Ray’s household or firefighters were injured. The extent of the damage was not yet clear.

“Thank you to our local first responders for being kind and gracious and saving what they could of our home,” Ray tweeted. “These are the days we all have to be grateful for what we have, not what we’ve lost.” AP
