Duterte dared: Sack PhilHealth chief
A lawmaker on Thursday dared President Rodrigo Duterte to sack Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) President Ricardo Morales.
“Ngayon, hinahamon natin ang Pangulo, ‘no, na sibakin si (Now, we dare the President to fire [retired Brigadier] General Morales),” said Gabriela Party-list Arlene Brosas in a press conference of the Makabayan bloc.
Brosas, in Filipino, questioned Morales’ qualifications, saying that whoever is appointed to PhilHealth should have “colatilla . . . finance background . . . somehow a health expert.”
PhilHealth has been under fire after its former anti-fraud legal officer Thorrson Montes Keith resigned over alleged “widespread corruption” in the agency.
Morales denied the allegation.
