P80M in cigarettes, fake masks seized in Bulacan

SOME P80 million worth of smuggled cigarettes and fake N95 masks have been seized by operatives of the Bureau of Customs (BoC) following a raid in Bulacan province.

Customs Assistant Commissioner Philip Vincent Maronilla, concurrent spokesman, said on Thursday that the hot goods were uncovered inside a warehouse in Barangay Sta.Rosa, Marilao, Bulacan.

The raid was conducted on August 5 based on a letter of authority (LOA) issued by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

Found inside the warehouse were 1,000 master cases of smuggled cigarettes of various brands, which include the popular Marlboro premium cigarettes.

The raid also yielded 648 boxes of fake N95 masks, which copied designs and logos of famous luxury fashion brands.

The seized items were brought at the bureau’s main office at the Port of Manila for further inventory and investigation.
