Muntinlupa reimposes liquor ban, stricter curfew amid MECQ

THE Muntinlupa government reimposed a liquor ban and stricter curfew to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the city under a modified ECQ (MECQ).

Majority Floor Leader Raul Corro of the Muntinlupa City Council said an ordinance was passed prohibiting the sale, delivery, and consumption of alcoholic beverages outside of residence.

The city council also passed an ordinance bringing back the curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. when “no person shall be allowed to go out of their respective residences, except for certain circumstances allowed under the national and local issuances.”

Exempted are “Authorized Persons Outside their Residence (APOR) and other exempt individuals, as may be determined by the Joint Task Force Covid Shield and/or other implementing authorities.”

President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday night announced that the National Capital Region (NCR) and its neighboring provinces will be placed under MECQ from August 4 to 18.

As of Thursday, there are 1,489 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the city, of which, 1,035 have recovered and 78 have died.
