Urban poor group files ‘intimidation’ raps vs police in Bulacan
MEMBERS of urban group Kadamay on Friday filed charges against key officers of the Pandi, Bulacan Philippine National Police (PNP) before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The complaint was in relation to the alleged “raid, intimidation, and seizure” of flyers and Pinoy Weekly Magazine copies at the Kadamay office on July 26.
The charges were filed against PNP Central Luzon Director Rhodel Sermonia, Bulacan Provincial Police Office Director Lawrence Bonifacio Cajipe, Pandi Police Station Chief Jun Javier Alejandrino, and PLt. Gerardo Espiritu and eight other unidentified uniformed personnel of the Pandi Police Station.
Charges filed were simple robbery and robbery by execution of deeds under Articles 494 (5) and 298 of the Revised Penal Code, respectively; gross misconduct; conduct unbecoming of a public officer; and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.
The complainants also prayed for the preventive suspension without pay and benefits of the respondents.
