DoH, Philhealth to release new home care benefit package
THE government will release a new benefit package for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients under home quarantine, as it only needs the approval of the state health insurer’s board of directors.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire told reporters in a media briefing on Wednesday that the Department of Health (DoH) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) formulated the package that will include “cost mechanisms”, among others.
The DoH said a “holistic” home care package will be created for mild and asymptomatic patients that will integrate triaging or the allocation of their treatment, telemedicine, and integration to the One Covid-19 Referral Center (formerly known as the One Hospital Command Center).
It also aims to expand access to primary care physicians who can monitor patients either in-person or virtually.
