People getting Covid shots should wait 14 days before getting other jabs – DOH

THE Department of Health (DoH) said that people who plan to take the Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) jab but who had been inoculated with other antiviral or antibacterial vaccines must wait for 14 days before getting the Covid-19 shot.

Similarly, those who have been inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine but will need antiviral or antibacterial shots should also wait for another 14 days.

“For example… kung magpabakuna po kayo ng anti-rabies or anti-tetano o kahit ano pang klaseng bakuna, may 14 araw po na pagitan bago kayo makapagreceive ng Covid-vaccine (If you received your anti-rabies or anti-tetanus or any other kind of vaccines, you have a gap of 14 days before you can receive any Covid-19 vaccine),” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire told reporters in a media briefing on Wednesday.

But the 14-day window can be waived in an emergency situation such as getting anti-tetanus or anti-rabies shots.

Kung talagang emergency in nature, the benefit will outweigh the risk when we give this specific vaccine kahit na kakabakuna ko pa lang ng Covid vaccine (If it is emergency in nature, the benefit will outweigh the risk when we give this specific vaccine even if you have been given the Covid-19 vaccine),” Vergeire said.
