82% of Filipinos trust 2022 election results — Pulse Asia

A majority of Filipinos polled said they trust that the results of the 2022 elections were accurate and fair, the June 24 to 27 survey of Pulse Asia showed.

The result of the rider question of the Stratbase ADR Institute in the Pulse Asia survey showed that 82 percent of respondents trusted the election results — 27 percent said they had "very big trust" while 55 percent said they had "big trust."

Only 4 percent said that they have "small or no trust" in the results while 14 percent cannot say if they have big or small trust.

The survey also showed that a majority of respondents — 67 percent — said that the results of the 2022 elections were more accurate than in 2016.

A polarity of respondents said that cheating was not as pervasive compared to the 2016 elections (39 percent), while a majority noted that the speed of the counting of votes by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) was faster this year (86 percent).

Pulse Asia President Ronald Holmes said that 1,200 respondents were surveyed nationwide.

The results of the survey have around ±3 percent error margin at the 95 percent confidence level.

Meanwhile, Commission on Elections acting Chairperson Commissioner Socorro Inting said that although the polls were far from perfect, it was generally successful, despite some reports of malfunctioning vote-counting machines (VCMs) and SD cards in some voting precincts.

Comelec reported an 83 percent voter turnout, which means that around 56 million out of 67.5 million registered voters cast their votes last May 9.

Inting attributed the success of the elections to the effective preparations of the Comelec to ensure its smooth conduct and the development of technology for faster transmission of election returns.
