WIDELY known for its "power" utility vehicles and commercial trucks, Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) is now looking at sustainability as a major motive for its business activities starting this year.

Currently celebrating its 25th year of operations in the Philippines, Isuzu announced a major shift in sourcing energy for its factory in Binan, Laguna by utilizing solar energy. The company said it will source energy requirements from solar farms in Pampanga and Bataan to reduce its carbon footprint. IPC will also install solar panels in the factory that will cover 22 percent of the complex's energy needs.

The shift to solar energy also reduces the reliance on traditional energy sources which emit gases that contribute to global warming. IPC said the Laguna facility has already reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 855 tons and aims to further reduce up to 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide gas by 2050, in line with what IPC President Noboru Murakami promised for a greener future for the company during his appointment as IPC's new president.

This showcases IPC's commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future as a company, and it will be reflected in its vehicles as well in the future.

In his speech, Murakami explained that the company's "Road to Progress vision" aims to realign its business processes through a new perspective focusing on environment, social and governance aspects. IPC is also encouraging its dealers to follow its lead in switching to renewable energy in the next few years, envisioning lower carbon footprint for the entire Isuzu dealer network.

Murakami thanked the shareholders, dealers and business partners who contributed to the success of IPC: "The main reason IPC has attained these countless achievements throughout the years is because we have the unwavering support of each and every one of you," he said.
