Iza Calzado, Jessy Mendiola first-time moms to be

BLESSINGS continue to pour in the lives of top celebrities Iza Calzado and Jessy Mendiola. Overnight, each one announced they are pregnant. Calzado is married to Ben Wintle and Mendiola to Luis Manzano.

Mendiola shared the happy news via her YouTube vlog. Titled "A New Chapter". It was filled with clips from hers and Manzano's prenup shoot, intimate civil wedding ceremony, and moments from married life. The video ended with photos of her positive pregnancy test and ultrasound results, including footage of Manzano tenderly touching her baby bump.

Holding off their church wedding now until the baby is born, Mendiola captioned her vlog, writing, "What a pleasant surprise! We had planned for our church wedding this year but suddenly God gave us this wonderful blessing, proving time and again that God is the master planner.

"For now, our planned church wedding will have to take a backseat until our bundle of joy arrives. This is, by far, the best surprise we have received in our lives. Indeed, with God all things are possible," she added.

The mom-to-be, however, did not mention when her first baby is due. Mendiola and Manzano tied the knot in February 2021 in Batangas after four years of dating.

Meanwhile early Friday, "Darna" star Iza Calzado shared in an Instagram post that she will be having her first baby in time for her 40th birthday.

Uploading a blissful photo of herself and the growing baby bump, Calzado wrote, "Something deep inside me knows that you will propel me to greater heights to soar higher than ever before in ways I cannot even begin to imagine. You will give me THE WHY, THE PURPOSE, THE DIRECTION in life, and I embrace you in my life as we build, along with Ben — your dad, a FAMILY!"

Calzado said she initially had big plans for her 40th birthday since it also coincides with her 20th year in showbiz.

Fortunately, before the baby news, Calzado completed work for Monday's Darna kick-off including several other movie and TV commitments.

"As a character of mine said in a film, 'In love there is no fear.' So I will choose to live each day giving life to you vibrating from this frequency — LOVE. They were right. Life does begin at 40. Simply put, your life begins as your mother turns forty. To know that life is growing inside me is [a] great miracle. You are my miracle. You are my guiding light. Thank You, Lord, for the most beautiful birthday gift. Our ABUNDANCE," Calzado ended.

In a previous interview on ANC's "Headstart," Calzado opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs and was open to the idea of surrogacy, saying that it is something she had discussed "early on" with her husband.

Calzado and Wintle tied the knot at a resort in Palawan on Dec. 19, 2018.
