Duterte won't attend Marcos inauguration
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will not attend the inauguration of his successor, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., outgoing National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. said on Thursday.
Esperon said Duterte will return to his hometown Davao City via commercial flight after the departure honors in Malacañang.
Duterte met Marcos in Malacañang in a courtesy call before formally assuming the presidency.
Marcos arrived in Malacañang past 10 a.m. and was personally welcomed by Duterte.
After their meeting, Duterte was given departure honors, signifying the end of his presidency.
Meanwhile, from Malacañang, Marcos will proceed to the National Museum in Manila where he is scheduled to take his oath as the 17th president of the Philippines at noon today.
